SUMMARY:
In a context where the advance of science and new technologies challenges existing conceptions around the design object, it seems essential to propose a new approach that understands clothing from a sustainable conception that allows us to build a different perspective from the current one productive system
To think of clothing as one of the great promoters of fashion has enshrined market projects that involve a massive productive scale that, through a combination of measures governed by industry, forces human plurality to homogenize. In effect, clothing determines established patterns that are repeated many times by varying the color or the pattern but starting from a stereotyped and biased body, without differentiating its permanent condition of existence, an active corporality involved with the world, which forms a system with it.
We find in biotechnology, and more precisely in the combination of biomimicry and bio-manufactured materials, a relationship with the body that offers the possibility of thinking about a second personalized biological skin, prioritizing its relationship with the environment and the particular organic and ecologically sustainable organic needs , before cultural impositions.
The objective of this work is to research the projective morphogenetic development of a second skin from the link between the body and biotechnology, raised in a way that can respond to the emerging problems that arise.
WORK PROPOSAL FOR INTERNS WITH ACADEMIC CREDIT:
The internship profile covers all FADU careers, but with preference to those from the Apparel Design and Textile Design careers.
The interns who join the project, mainly perform tasks of complementing the different stages of research:
-
Data collection and analysis.
-
Search for information and documentation on relevant contemporary productions.
-
Material selection, providing for the performance of a critical analysis.
-
Search for conceptual emergencies.
-
Argument of the valuation framework through coincidences and / or contradictions in the position of authors mentioned in the bibliography.
-
Selection of bibliographic references alluding to the problem posed in the investigation.
-
I propose relational structures, through the differences and similarities that the analyzed cases present.
-
Partial approach to new conceptual inferences
-
Critical comparative analysis focused on the choice of referents and the criteria regarding the particular conditions of the context.
