SUMMARY:
This work focuses the investigation of the intervening project processes in a system of clothing typologies based on biotechnology, within parameters of sustainability and reduction of socio-environmental impact.
Starting from the idea that design must find a way to develop in a sustainable way, and that it is essential to adopt an interdisciplinary perspective, we propose to work on the design processes that involve linking the use of biotechnology and a sociocultural perspective that redefines the prevailing models with which it is designed today.
it is pertinent to reformulate the existing conceptual and operational instruments in the field of clothing design, from a morphological perspective understood as a discipline that highlights the relationships and significance between behaviors and uses; and clothing production.
The background in researches and previous explorations allow us to understand design from a perspective of complexity and interdisciplinarity, by taking nature as a formal and conceptual reference of sustainable productions. From this perspective, biotechnology is taken as the field of development that allows the environment and sociocultural values to be articulated, in relation to the production and design of contemporary clothing.
The incorporation of biotechnology means a change of technological paradigm that we must problematize to devise action strategies that, even using technology, do not deviate us from the path of the sustainable, in ecological, social and cultural terms.
This work uses an epistemological model based on a complex system that links the different aspects of design, and by investigating design processes based on biotechnology, cultural changes can be generated in terms of responsibility and sustainability in the field of clothing design.
