The centrality of the object and the technique is, in the history of design, an old and current issue. A work of epistemological positioning in the design field that traces distances, meeting zones and situated references. A discursive coexistence and the cultural recognition of certain objects, between the world of meanings and that of use or useful function.

 

This book brings together essays that seek to find answers to the definition of bio, of the object and the demands of new technologies; it is a stimulus to ask new questions about the surprising qualities of the natural laws of materials, where the aim is not to transfer the categories of one disciplinary field to another. In other words, not to fall into the temptation of the metaphorical use of the transfer of the universe of discourse from synthetic biology to designs. A purpose that is verified in the strategies with a multi-method approach, which contrasts and activates models of thought, in research based on praxis and its impact on new modes of production, which configures its own concept of interdisciplinary design research.
